Back In Action

Ok I must admit I've been in a funk.   I haven't had a lick of motivation lately but I think it's coming back.  It helps that I have a house clear FULL of projects that I need to get finished...er....started.  Also this helps to motivate me too~

HOLY MOLY!  My husband completely spoiled me! Here he is in action with my 5 year old daughters new bike. In his UGG house shoes none the less. He's pulling some trick moves.....he's a HUGE fan of the movie RAD.  Anyone remember that movie? Classic!  He'd be doing a little table toppin' right now if he could. I'm pretty sure at 6'5" 240 lbs he's way over the limit on that poor bike. Ha!

That face he's pulling helps him with his moves. LOL

So I finally finished up the corner shelves unit that I started eons ago.  Here she is in all her glory. 

She's painted in AS Duck Egg Blue and Old White with some clear and brown wax to finish her off.

 I have no room to actually 'stage' my stuff since my house, like I said, is clear FULL of projects.....I wasn't kidding. So the corner behind the door will have to do.  She's pretty cute and I priced her low in hopes to sell her fast!  Let me know what ya think. I love reading your comments!

Blue Corner Unit

Here's a cute corner unit that I picked up a few weeks ago.  I'm not quite finished with it but I wanted to post it for someone who  was interested!  This is for you  Monique! :)  It's 6 feet fall and 27 inches wide. There's another shelf inside the door too.  I'm gonna try to finish this today and then re post it.....today!

When I bought this, it didn't have a mirror. Well it did but it was in several pieces wrapped up in newspaper inside the top drawer.  I thought about selling it without the mirror but my handy helper of a hubs bought a $13 mirror cutter, a $20 mirror and cut it himself!  I was so proud! :)

Another cute french side table. This is a Weiman Heirloom Quality  Table.  It's seen better days. Someone half painted it and then let it sit outside for a while. I'll make her pretty again.



I Sew Did It!

Somewhere deep down inside there is a sewing bug just trying to get out.   Well it finally eeked it's way to the surface for the first time since middle school.  Initially I was making a pillow for my couch.  I'm sure it would have turned into a few pillows but I like to start small with one.  For some reason I had it in my head that a 12 x 12 pillow was a good size.. it is not.  At least not for me but I had it cut and needed to do something with it so I didn't waste my linen.  SO my pillow morphed into my new scripture bag! It's cute, I like it.  I think that for sewing something  for the first time in well over a decade it's not half bad. :)

.....and yes the stencil is upside down but we're not going to say anything about that. ;)

Suitcase Table

Here is a Vintage Suitcase table that I made.  It all comes apart, easier to move that way. :)

The bottom of it is actually from a cute little coffee table project I was doing that went horribly wrong. Happy that I was able to give it another purpose!

This is another CL find.  I was so excited to get this dresser....solid wood, dovetail drawers, awesome condition. Unfortunately I didn't get a before pic. Sorry, I hate that.  I'm posting a picture of one I found on bing that looks similar to the color of what mine looked like.  She didn't look that bad but I wouldn't put it in my house like that. I decided to try the Old Fashioned Milk Paint.  I love the ASCP and I wanted to see how the Milk Paint compared.  I like it. It's different then the chalk paint obviously and I think I'd prefer the chalk paint but I can actually drive to pick this up instead of paying $15 to have chalk paint mailed to me. Here is the picture I found that looks similar to the color and style of mine....just so you have an idea.

I also distressed the edges with sand paper and then rubbed them with dark stained to get that antique look.

I think she's lovely. She's in my shop. :)

Cheese Cloche Stand

Here's a fun treasure I found a few weeks ago .  I'm on the constant look out for cheese cloches.  I must say I have a little crush on them and I get so excited when I find one.  I lucked out one day at my local GW.  I then searched for a sturdy candle holder base.  It needed to have a wide enough top that could provide good support for the cheese cloche.  I found 2 but decided to go with the tall one.

I painted the wood bottom of the cloche with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (Duck Egg) and also painted the candle holder. 

Then I measured out where the middle was on the bottom of the cloche.

Then I flipped  the candle holder upside down, placed the middle of the candle holder on the middle of the cloche and traced it. 

.  Then I removed the candle holder and traced the inside of the traced circle with clear silicone.  You can't put the silicone on the actual traced line because that's the outer edge of your candle stick and you want the silicone on the inside to be able to make it stick together.

The new Cheese Cloche stand.  I can already picture a cute little birds nest in side or maybe a special cupcake! :)





Antique Dresser

Antique Dresser with mirror.....all dressed up in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  I had to try the ASCP and now I'm in love. It lived up to all my expectations and everything anyone has ever said about it is true. It's. AMAZING.  Too bad it costs a bazillion dollars or I would get it in every color.  I bought this dresser off CL and it was in need of a lot of repair.  Good thing I'm handy with the wood glue, clamps, wood filler and power tools.  I love fixing things that someone else has given up on.  Here she is before:

Yikes! Piece of wood missing....that's gonna cost a lot to fix!  Or is it?!

The top is stained in Minwax Dark Walnut...so are the knobs.

I Mod Podged some pages from the Bicentennial Almanac inside the drawers. The pages have really neat information about historical dates and pictures. It's always nice to have a little history in your antique dresser. *wink wink*...I'm so clever....haha!
